This tree should be renamed "punishment maple" because that is what it can take. Widely adaptable to dry or moist, high salinity or alkaline soils. Native to the mountain regoins of Utah, it's found between 4500 and 7500 feet elevation. Large rounded often multi-stemmed form with yellow, orange and red fall colors.
